Basic/Advanced Steward Training Workshop

This six-hour program delivered by the Institute for Labor Studies & Research is designed to refresh and/or familiarize union officers and stewards with the legal rights and responsibilities in representing bargaining unit members.

 

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will leave with a working knowledge of their collective bargaining agreement.

 

The workshop covers topics such as the Duty of Fair Representation, Weingarten rights and grievance handling.  Program participants will be exposed to effective contract administration of the Agreement from the investigation, development, and processing of the grievance to the elements necessary in the possible case preparation and presentation of the case before an arbitrator.

Negotiation Training​ Workshop

 

This two-session program prepares negotiation committee members to develop, cost, and present proposals.

 

In the first session, participants are exposed to the steps necessary for successful negotiations. 

The second session is devoted to a three-hour mock negotiation, where participants put into practice the skills acquired in the first session.
